EMERGENCY
SHELTER

The Helping Hands Emergency Shelter is the first step in our continuum of care — a safe, welcoming place where individuals and families can find immediate relief from the crisis of homelessness. When someone walks through our doors, they are met with compassion, dignity, and the assurance that they are no longer facing their struggle alone.

Our Emergency Shelter provides more than a bed. It offers stability, safety, and support during one of the most difficult moments in a person’s life. Clients receive a clean, comfortable place to sleep, nourishing meals, access to basic necessities, and a trauma-informed environment designed to reduce stress and restore hope.

Each client is welcomed with care and compassion, and within the first days of their stay, they meet with a case manager to begin understanding their situation and mapping out next steps. Whether the need is employment support, financial resources, legal guidance, mental health referrals, or help obtaining vital documents, our team ensures guests are connected to the right services quickly and respectfully.

The Emergency Shelter is structured to provide stability while promoting empowerment. Through daily routines, on-site support, and clear expectations, guests begin to regain a sense of control, predictability, and ability. Our staff work closely with each person to identify barriers, build confidence, and prepare for the next phase of their journey — whether that is transitional housing, reunification with family, or placement in supportive programs throughout the community.

At Helping Hands, the Emergency Shelter is not just a place to stay; it is a place to be seen, supported, and guided toward a better tomorrow. Our mission is to restore ability, dignity, and hope from the very first night, ensuring every guest leaves knowing they matter and that a pathway forward is within reach.

TRANSITIONAL HOUSING

The Helping Hands Transitional Housing Program provides a stable, supportive environment for individuals and families who are ready to take the next step toward long-term independence. After the immediate crisis of homelessness has been addressed in our Emergency Shelter, transitional housing offers the structure, guidance, and stability needed to rebuild a strong foundation for the future.

Our program is designed for clients who are actively working toward their goals but need more time, support, and resources before moving into permanent housing. Residents typically stay for several months as they focus on employment, financial stability, personal wellness, and life-skills development — all while living in a safe, home-like setting that encourages growth and independence.

At Helping Hands, transitional housing is more than a place to stay. It is a pathway forward that combines compassionate support with practical tools. Each resident works collaboratively with a case manager to build an individualized success plan that outlines steps toward stable housing, sustainable income, and long-term well-being. Through our Life Skills Program, financial literacy coaching, employment readiness training, and weekly check-ins, residents gain the confidence and ability to take control of their futures.

The transitional housing environment is structured but empowering. Residents participate in a shared living community that fosters respect, responsibility, and accountability. Chores, community meetings, and skill-building workshops help create a sense of routine and belonging while preparing residents for the realities of maintaining a household of their own.

Our goal is simple: to restore ability, dignity, and hope by giving individuals the opportunity to heal, grow, and move forward at a sustainable pace. When residents leave transitional housing, they step into the world not only housed, but equipped — with the tools, knowledge, and support needed to create a stable and fulfilling future.

SUBSIDIZED
HOUSING

The Helping Hands Subsidized Housing Program is the final step in our continuum of care — a long-term, stability-focused housing option designed for individuals and families who are ready to live independently but still face financial or systemic barriers to securing permanent housing on their own.

After completing the Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing phases, residents enter subsidized housing with the confidence, skills, and support networks they’ve worked hard to build. This program bridges the gap between supportive living and full independence by offering affordable rent, continued case management, and access to community-based services that help residents maintain housing success over time.

Our subsidized housing units provide a safe, permanent place to call home — a foundation from which individuals can rebuild their future with dignity and security. Residents pay a portion of their income toward rent, while Helping Hands ensures the remaining costs are supported through community partnerships, grants, and program funding. This structure keeps housing stable while allowing residents to save money, improve credit, pursue education or employment, and strengthen overall financial health.

But subsidized housing isn’t just about affordability — it’s about support that evolves with each resident’s needs. Case managers continue to check in regularly, helping residents navigate challenges, connect with community resources, and stay on track with long-term goals. Whether someone needs help accessing healthcare, budgeting, job advancement, childcare, or transportation, our team remains a consistent and reliable partner.

The ultimate goal of the Subsidized Housing Program is long-term success: empowering residents to move beyond the cycle of homelessness and step fully into independence. By offering stability, guidance, and compassion, we help residents build lasting foundations — restoring ability, dignity, and hope in every aspect of their lives.

At Helping Hands, subsidized housing is more than assistance. It is a new beginning, a sustainable future, and a chance for every person to thrive on their own terms.

CASE MANAGEMENT

Case management is at the heart of everything we do at Helping Hands Homeless Shelter. Each resident is paired with a dedicated case manager who works alongside them to identify goals, navigate challenges, and build a personalized path toward stability and independence. Through one-on-one support, residents receive assistance with housing placement, employment readiness, benefits access, healthcare coordination, and life-skills development. Our trauma-informed, strengths-based approach ensures every individual is treated with dignity, respect, and compassion—meeting people where they are and empowering them to move forward at their own pace.
